Sam Baron, returning from a journey through the most fascinating and beautiful sites of the Fondo Ambiente Italiano (the Italian National Trust), sends me a second post, this time from the Hotel Parco dei Principi in Sorrento.

“For the Salone del Mobile in Milan we collaborated with the Fondo Ambiente Italiano on a project that took the Fabrica design team to various regions of Italy.

I was in the south, near Sorrento, and as a designer, I couldn’t miss visiting the Hotel Parco dei Principi and immerse myself in the creativity and talent of Gio Ponti.

This hotel on the seafront was built by the Italian architect in 1962, when the culture of the Riviera was at its peak. As a guest of this blog, I would especially like to share the impact that the colours have on those who arrive in this wonderful location, perfectly integrated into its surrounding landscape.

Here, blue is everywhere – from the sky to the sea, from the tiles to the furniture, from the plates to the soft furnishings – always perfectly balanced with white. The different materials used for furniture provide a vibrant demonstration of how colour can be used in spaces, blending stylistic details with all the qualities of traditional craftsmanship”.
