Mongolia: eagles and skyscrapers

OK, so the eagle on my shoulder made me feel uneasy. Majestic, even though trained, its dignity made me feel all the ‘greatness’ of which it is capable.

This, alongside the performance of the horse-riding acrobats representing the exploits of , was just one, much appreciated, diversion during a work trip that brought me close to so many different realities.

On the one hand, nature’s immensity, a sense of tradition, nomadism; on the other, major economic progress in an evolving country with numerous construction sites on the go, houses popping up everywhere, and a powerful entrepreneurial drive. And two great looking new United Colors of Benetton and Sisley stores in Ulan Bator.
